Residential Treatment
Transitional Care Unit
Primary residential treatment services for men and women is available for up to four weeks depending on assessment of individual needs. Therapeutic services encourage men and women to focus on their individual needs and issues and help them to begin to change their lifestyle so that they and their families can begin the process of recovery from chemical addiction.
New Life Unit for Women
Long term residential care for women is available during which they may have their child(ren) (newborn through 5 years-of-age) reside with them and participate in our Therapeutic Child Treatment Program. Women can have up to two children with them during treatment.
Under the guidance of a Board Certified physician, our licensed and credentialed counselors provide an effective variety of therapeutic services to facilitate recovery and a transition into productive life.

Detoxification
Charleston Center provides an entire continuum of inpatient treatment for alcohol and drug dependent adult men and women. These services often start medical detoxification. We recognize that the safe removal of the affects of alcohol and drugs is necessary in order to start the recovery process and is not an end in itself.
Placement in detoxification services is based on criteria developed by the American Society of Addictive Medicine (ASAM).
Charleston Center has a total of 12 detoxification beds licensed by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) and is fully accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
Medical monitoring, including initial history and physical examination, is provided by a board certified family physician who is certified in addictions medicine, a licensed physician assistant and licensed nurse practitioner. Competent and caring professional nurses, case managers, counselors and recovery assistants staff the unit around the clock.
NOTE: Because of the nature of opiate dependency such as heroin, detoxification must be done in conjunction with the Opioid Treatment Program and some restrictions around immediate detoxification may apply. For more information, click here.

Partners in Achieving Independence through Recovery and Self Sufficiency (PAIRS)
Partners in Achieving Independence through Recovery and Self Sufficiency is a collaborative effort between Charleston Center and the Department of Social Services (DSS) “Temporary Aid to Needy Families.” This program provides qualifying families with intensive case management services, including financial assistance, to foster family self-sufficiency. To qualify, individuals must be motivated for recovery, leaving inpatient treatment, approved by DSS, free of felony convictions and living below 200 percent of the federal poverty level guidelines.
