To media partners:
Emergency response crews cooperating to keep attendees of the 2012 PGA Championship safe continue to stress the importance of hydration, despite wetter weather and slightly cooler temperatures today.
Seventy spectators were treated for dehydration-related health issues today.
With attendance expected to grow exponentially tomorrow (the first day of the competition), emergency medical technicians and law enforcement officials reiterate the need to:
-
Be conscious of changing weather conditions’ impact on safety and your well-being. Specifically, be cautious of slippery surfaces and uneven terrain.
-
Be aware of numerous vehicles of a wide range of sizes from tractor-trailer rigs to golf carts. PGA and its partners are diligently maintaining a high level of activity as it ramps up to tomorrow’s first day of competition.
-
Be conscious of heavy pedestrian traffic among moving vehicles, particularly golf carts transporting supplies and carrying personnel.
-
Be prepared for traffic delays. To minimize delays follow traffic signs in and out of the Kiawah Island area and within and around parking areas.
Safety is of the upmost importance to all involved around and within the Ocean Course. Visitor information can be found at www.pga2012.com.
