Functions
The S.C. Department of Mental Health is a state agency headquartered in Columbia, but with offices in Charleston County. The Charleston/Dorchester Community Mental Health Center's mission is to "provide community-based mental health services to the citizens and families of Charleston and Dorchester Counties."
The Center's services include: psychiatric evaluations, prescription of medication, treatment services such as psychotherapy, consultation to the Center's clinicians and programs, a continuum of services for children with emotional disturbances and crisis and emergency consultation.
