Hours of Operation
Bees Ferry Convenience Center (staffed center):
Open 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily
Except Sundays, open 1 - 6 p.m.
Charleston County Recycling Center (13 Romney Street, downtown Charleston):
Monday-Friday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Closed Saturday and Sunday
All Other Convenience Centers (staffed centers):
Open 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily
Except Wednesdays and Sundays, open 1 - 6 p.m.
What can be recycled at a convenience center or drop site location?
All convenience centers and drop-site locations (unless indicated as ‘only') accept commingles, which are plastics #1 through #7, paper, paperboard, aluminum, aerosol cans, glass and steel products (such as soup cans).
Several locations also accept corrugated cardboard, used motor oil and oil filters, electronics and paint and offer recycling bins:.
- Locations marked with a (C) accept corrugated cardboard.
- Locations marked with an (E) accept electronics.
- Locations marked with an (O) accept used motor oil and oil filters.
- Locations marked with a (B) offer bins.

Convenience Centers located at Awendaw, McClellanville, Edisto, Hollywood, Adams Run, Wadmalaw and Bee's Ferry are staffed centers and also take everything listed beside the location listed below in addition to hazardous household materials, CFL light bulbs, yard waste, tires, paint, motor oil, car batteries, battery acid, NiCad batteries, scrap metal, appliances, household batteries, fluorescent tubes, cooking oil, old gasoline, antifreeze and propane tanks. Click here for more information on these items. The Recycling Center is not a full service convenience center so they might not take all the items that other convenience centers accept. Call 720-7111 with questions on what the recycling center may or may not accept. Drop sites are unmanned and only accept paper, plastics, aluminum, glass bottles and steel cans. Some take cardboard.
