County’s Two Parking Garages Undergo Repairs
Charleston County Government’s two parking garages will undergo repairs over two months beginning Monday, March 23.
Both of the County’s garages in downtown Charleston will be repaired at the same time:
Cumberland Street Parking Garage, located at 90 Cumberland Street
King and Queen Streets Parking Garage, adjacent to the Charleston County Judicial Center Complex
County staff will work with the engineers and contractors to minimize the impact on citizens using the garage. However, the repairs will require some space closures during the two-month project.
Parts of the garages, built in the early 1970s, will receive repairs to maintain the structural safety and to extend their longevity.
The upcoming repairs are the first of three phases of repairs needed on the garages that will occur over the next three years. Funds for the $5.8 million in repairs and for garage operations come from the garages’ parking fees.
For more information about the repairs or the County’s parking garages, contact the Charleston County Parking Operations Division at (843)724-6786.
