Night Work Starts May 3 for Folly Road/Maybank Highway Intersection Improvements Project

Lane closures to occur from 9 p.m. – 5:30 a.m. beginning on Sunday, May 3

 

Charleston County RoadWise advises the public that nighttime lane closures will occur in both directions on Folly Road from Wappoo Cut to the Maybank Highway intersection.

 

The nighttime lane closures will begin on Sunday, May 3, and continue intermittently for approximately one month. The lane closures will only occur at night from 9 p.m. – 5:30 a.m. to minimize effects on traffic.

 

Work on the project will include removing the concrete island on Folly Road at the Maybank Highway intersection and removal of the acceleration lane and the curb and gutter at the Folly Road and Country Club Drive intersection.

 

At no point will the entire roadway be blocked to traffic. The public is asked to take notice of traffic control signs and message board information.

 

The project is funded by the Transportation Half-Cent Sales Tax.

 

The project, which is expected to be completed by the spring of 2010, is funded by the Charleston County Transportation Sales Tax and managed by the Charleston County RoadWise Program.

Charleston County RoadWise is the name of Charleston County Government’ss management program for the construction of roads, highways, resurfacing, paving and drainage projects that are funded by the Transportation Half-Cent Sales Tax.
