Construction Complete on Two Transportation Sales Tax Projects

Crews complete sidewalk and intersection projects in North Charleston

Charleston County Government announces that construction is complete on the Greenridge Road Intersection Improvements Project and the Victoria Avenue Sidewalk Project.

The projects were funded by the Charleston County Transportation Sales Tax and managed by the Charleston County RoadWise Program.

The Greenridge Road project improved the road from the Rivers Avenue intersection to Antler Drive. The major components of the project were an addition of a left turn lane on Greenridge Road at St. Ives Road; an extension of the left turn lane from Rivers Avenue onto Greenridge Road, and an addition of a right turn lane on Greenridge Road at the Rivers Avenue intersection. Charleston County Council approved the project as a part of its 2008 Transportation Sales Tax annual allocations for intersection improvement projects.

The Victoria Avenue Sidewalk Project added a 4,600-foot sidewalk that includes a 46-foot pedestrian bridge. The new sidewalk begins at the intersection of Park Place North and North Rhett Avenue, and is constructed along Park Place North to Victoria Avenue. The five-foot wide sidewalk continues along the east side of Victoria Avenue ending at the existing sidewalk on Maxwell Street. Portions of the existing ditch on Victoria Avenue were filled with drainage pipes to accommodate the new sidewalk. Charleston County Council approved the project as a 2008 Local Paving Project.
