How can I get myself or another person into treatment?

How long will I be in treatment?

Q: How can I get myself or another person into treatment?

A: The first step is to call the Assessment Center Helpline at (843) 722-0100 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. The caller will be screened to determine care needs and scheduled for an assessment at a time convenient to the caller. In cases where DAODAS services are not appropriate to the caller's needs, referrals to outside sources will be made. If the caller needs immediate help, based on bed availability, any resident of Charleston County who qualifies for detoxification services is admitted immediately. If no bed is available, the caller is referred to a hospital emergency room.

Q: How long will I be in treatment?

A: Length of treatment varies according to individual needs; as the client progresses, intensity of services decreases. Attendance at Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings and participation in aftercare groups are encouraged.
