Educational Groups combine with therapy groups to teach clients a variety of skills to help them achieve recovery and avoid relapse.

Services Include:

  • Alcohol and Drug Awareness Education for individuals who are beginning to experience the negative consequences of substance abuse but may not have yet developed a dependency.

  • Treatment Groups provide counseling for adults with substance abuse and addiction problems. Facilitated by licensed or certified professionals, these groups focus on issues such as relapse prevention, early recovery issues, codependency, dual diagnosis, family effects of addiction, aftercare, the role of 12-step groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.) and Narcotics Anonymous (N.A.), and issues specific to men or women.

  • Intensive Outpatient Services is a program for adults with more severe substance abuse and addiction issues that need more structured support. These groups meet up to 13 hours per week and focus on abstinence, 12-step support, recovery and life skills.

  • Individual / Family Counseling may be offered alone or as an adjunct to other services to address specific issues not conducive to a group setting.

Overview

Charleston Center provides a comprehensive continuum of intervention and treatment services. Within the Adult Outpatient Continuum, services are offered by licensed and credentialed clinical counselors and include comprehensive assessment,  individual and family therapy, group counseling, medical evaluation and case management with referral to other services as needed. Services are offered day or evening.

In conjunction with the Outpatient Services Division, HIV testing, counseling and mental health evaluations are readily available. Close coordination with Inpatient Services allows for a smooth transfer to inpatient or detoxification services if required.

Programs for Women and Families

Charleston Center offers a variety of outpatient services specifically designed for women and families to help them make the transition into full, productive lives. Women's Services are designed to follow a continuum of care following the inpatient New Life program and include such things as therapeutic childcare and intensive home visits. Case management includes referrals to other collaborating agencies such as the Department of Social Services (DSS), Vocational Rehabilitation, housing and faith-based organizations.
