Apartment and Multi-family Home Recycling
Charleston County currently has 10 communities participating in a pilot apartment and multi-family complex recycling program. These complexes have agreed to have a recycling drop site placed on their grounds or in their parking lot. Drop sites have a section for plastics, glass, aluminum cans and steel cans and another section for all paper products (including magazines, newspaper, junk mail, paperboard and office paper) and are emptied by the County.
Most apartment/multi-family complexes currently do not have recycling drop sites because it is a voluntary program and the service has to be requested by the complex's management.
Start Recycling
If you would like to start recycling at your apartment or multi-family complex, ask the manager of your community to contact the Charleston County Environmental Management Department at (843) 720-7111 for more information.
