Calhoun Street, from Courtenay Drive to East Bay Street, will soon be resurfaced using funds from the Transportation "Half-Cent" Sales Tax. The work will begin on the evening of June 11 and is expected to be completed late in the week of June 17. Brief delays in traffic flow will likely occur and parking on Calhoun Street will not be allowed during the late evening and early morning hours during throughout the resurfacing project. However, in order to minimize delays, the work is being done between 7 p.m. 5 a.m.
Parking on Calhoun Street during the resurfacing hours will be strictly prohibited according to city of Charleston officials. However, two of Calhoun Street's four lanes will remain open at all times, allowing continued flow of traffic in the area. There may be a very short delay at intersections along Calhoun Street when asphalt personnel and machinery reach those points.
