Charleston County Council Announces Vacancies on Boards and Commissions 

Charleston County Council encourages citizens of Charleston County to participate in local government by volunteering to serve on boards and commissions. Interested citizens can submit an application for appointment by March 23, 2009. 

Charleston County Council announces the following vacancies on boards and commissions:  

  • Construction Board of Adjustment and Appeals
    • One vacancy for a resident state fire marshal
  • Saint Pauls Fire District Commission
    • One vacancy for the Edisto Island seat
  • Naval Complex Redevelopment Authority
    • One vacancy
  • Weed and Trash Abatement Hearing Board
    • One vacancy
  • Community Development Advisory Committee
    • One vacancy for a community based representative
    • One vacancy for a construction representative
  • Disabilities and Special Needs Board
    • One vacancy
  • Awendaw Consolidated Fire District
    • Six vacancies for residents of the fire district
  • Firemen's Insurance and Inspection Fund (one percent commission)
    • One vacancy from James Island Public Service District (PSD)
    • Two vacancies from St. Pauls Fire District
    • Three vacancies from St. Andrews PSD

Applications will be considered by County Council's Administration Policy and Rules Committee at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2009. This committee comprises five members of Charleston County Council. The committee will make recommendations to fill these vacancies to full Council, and County Council will vote on those recommendations at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2009.
