Solid Waste Management Study Presentations Next Week

Charleston County Council will receive a professional opinion on solid waste options

There are two meetings on Thursday, March 12, 2009 that will focus on Charleston County’s solid waste options for the future:

• The Charleston County Green Ribbon Committee, as directed by Charleston County Council, will hold a meeting at 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 12, in County Council’s committee room at the Lonnie Hamilton, III Public Services Building (4045 Bridge View Drive; North Charleston, SC 29405).

• Charleston County Council will hold its finance committee meeting at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 12 in County Council’s Chambers at the Lonnie Hamilton, III Public Services Building (4045 Bridge View Drive; North Charleston, SC 29405).

Both of the meetings on March 12 are open to the public, and will include a presentation by Kessler Consulting Inc. The consultant will present a professional opinion on whether viable solid waste options exist to alleviate the need for incineration. The presentation is a component of the Council-directed Solid Waste Management Study. In the coming months, the consultant will continue to work with the Green Ribbon Committee and keep Charleston County Council updated on their progress.
