Functions

The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission (PRC) is a countywide agency operating a park system covering over 4,500 acres with emphasis on passive activities, the environment and beach access. The Park and Recreation Commissioners are appointed by County Council. Residents of the County pay a separate tax levy specifically to fund PRC operations, which are also offset by user fees.
