Charleston County Probate Court Commitment Division

 

The Commitment Division handles all involuntary commitment cases for mental illness and chemical dependency. The petition/application for mental illness cases begins at:

State law requires all documents related to these cases to be handled in a confidential manner. All documentation required to open a petition/application for involuntary commitment must be filed in person at either the Charleston/Dorchester Community Mental Health Center or the Charleston Center.
