<p class="osmall">The Chairman of Council appoints the chairman and members of the following committees annually. Appointments are announced at the second Council meeting in January. Council committees function in an oversight and advisory capacity. No member of a committee can be removed by the Chairman of Council without the approval of Council. If a vacancy occurs during the year, the Chairman appoints a replacement.</p>

Administration Policy/Rules; Audit; Economic Development; Finance;&#160;Planning/Public Works; Recycling/Solid Waste. Note that the chairman is a voting member of all Standing Committees.</p>

Administration Policy/Rules Committee</strong><br/>
This committee consists of four members of Council. It functions as a review, oversight and advisory body on the rules of Council, appointments by Council, issues involving legislative and governmental liaison and related matters. Meets as needed on the Thursdays preceding County Council meetings. Committee members are Joe Qualey, Chairman; Dickie Schweers; Henry Darby; Elliott Summey.<br/>
&#160;<strong><br/>
Audit Committee</strong><br/>
This committee consists of four members of Council. It functions as a review, oversight and advisory body to consider annual fiscal audit, any supplemental or interim fiscal audits, any operational or fiscal audits by the Internal Auditor and related matters. Meets as needed on the Thursdays proceeding County Council meetings. Committee members are Herb Sass, Chairman; Colleen Condon; Dickie Schweers; Anna Johnson.</p>
<p class="osmall"><strong>Economic Development Committee</strong><br/>
This committee consists of four members of Council. It functions as a review, oversight and advisory body on economic development and related matters. Meets as needed on the Thursdays proceeding County Council meetings. Committee members are Elliott Summey, Chairman; Joe Qualey; Dickie Schweers; Anna Johnson.<br/>

<strong>Finance Committee</strong><br/>
This committee consists of all members of Council. It functions as a ways and means committee on matters dealing with the budget, capital improvements, bond issues, County personnel policies, purchases and bids, taxation and related matters. Meets on Thursdays preceding Council meetings. Committee includes all members of County Council with Teddie E. Pryor, Chairman.<br/>

Planning/Public Works Committee</strong><br/>
This committee consists of all members of Council. It functions as a review, oversight and advisory body on Subdivision Regulations, building and other regulatory codes, the Zoning Ordinance, transportation, public works and related matters. Meets on Thursdays preceding Council meetings. Committee includes all members of County Council with Henry Darby, Chairman.<br/>

Recycling/Solid Waste Committee</strong><br/>
This committee consists of four members of Council. It functions as a review, oversight and advisory body on the recycling and disposal of solid waste and related matters. Meets as needed on the Thursdays preceding Council meetings. Committee members are Anna Johnson, Chairman; Herb Sass; Henry Darby; Elliott Summey.</p>
