EMT Academy

The Charleston County EMS Academy is a pioneering 12-week program that offers a unique opportunity for students to earn and learn simultaneously. This innovative initiative provides a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum, allowing aspiring Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Throughout the program, students undergo intensive training, combining classroom lectures, hands-on simulations, and real-life scenarios to prepare them for the challenges of the field.

Upon successful completion and graduation from the Charleston County EMS Academy, students are well-prepared to take on the national registry of EMTs cognitive exam and the South Carolina psychomotor skills exam. These exams ensure that graduates meet the highest standards in emergency medical care, guaranteeing their competency and readiness for the field. After passing the exams, graduates are assigned to various divisions within the department, where they will operate as fully certified EMTs.
