School gardens and on-site composting programs provide great opportunities to familiarize students with the natural composting process. Composting, a natural method of recycling organic waste, saves valuable landfill space, preserves natural resources and creates a nutrient-rich soil amendment while supporting Charleston County's 40% recycling goal.
Free compost is available from Charleston County for all Charleston County Schools with gardens. For more information, please call (843)720-7111.
Please keep checking this site often for gardening tips and activities. Also, check out the Helpful Links Page for more educational composting information.
