Mission Statement

To deliver Charleston County transportation and drainage infrastructure improvements through a variety of services: maintenance, engineering, and construction management. These services include overseeing improvement projects, managing stormwater activities, and providing mosquito control services. Public Works will provide all services in an efficient, responsible, successful, and diligent manner.

Public Works Electronic Encroachment Permit Process

• To submit an encroachment permit electronically, please complete the online form and upload a complete set of site plans.

• You can also print a hard copy of the encroachment permit and mail it with a complete set of site plans to:

• Once we receive the permit request, a Public Works representative will contact you within 72 hours. At this time, the representative will coordinate the collection of a $35.00 application fee and discuss the next steps of the permitting process.
  

  On March 14th Encroachment permits will be applied for in the Charleston County CSS portal and the online application will no longer be available.
