Applications for the next Charleston County Sheriff's Office Citizens Police Academy are now being accepted until 5 P.M. July 1.

The Charleston County Citizens Academy touches on every aspect of our agency, from law to detention to judicial enforcement, helping Charleston County residents better understand how our agency works to keep them safe. The class format includes presentations from our deputies, as well as hands-on activities, tours, and impactful storytelling.

Join the Citizens Academy

The program will be for 11 weeks and each class will be held on a Tuesdays from 5:30PM to 7:30PM at the Law Enforcement Center starting in mid July. Applicants must be 18 years of age, a resident of Charleston County, and must fill out the following form to be considered for the class.

A records check will be conducted on all applicants. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office reserves the right to deny entry to the Citizens Academy based on the findings of the records check. A criminal record does not automatically disqualify.

This application authorizes the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office to release criminal arrest history information on myself using the information provided. The result is indicative of what is on file based on the identifiers provided and not conclusive as a complete criminal arrest history.
