Planning Commission

The Charleston County Planning Commission consists of nine members appointed by County Council. This Commission hears and makes recommendations to Council on Comprehensive Plan updates, reviews, and amendments; Zoning and Land Development Regulations Ordinance text amendments; Zoning Map amendment (Rezoning) applications; and Planned Development (PD) Zoning District application and amendment requests. The Commission has final decision-making authority on road name changes; preliminary subdivision plats; public project review; and appeals of subdivision-related administrative decisions.

Planning Commission Applications

Rezoning (Zoning Map Amendment), Comprehensive Plan Amendment, Zoning and Land Development Regulations Amendment, Planned Development, and Road Name Change applications may be submitted via email or in person.
