The Charleston County Planning Commission consists of nine members appointed by County Council. This Commission hears and makes recommendations to Council on Comprehensive Plan updates, 5 and 10-year reviews, and amendments; Zoning and Land Development Regulations text amendments; Zoning Map amendments (Rezonings); and Planned Development (PD) Development Plans and PD Zoning Map amendments. The Commission has final decision-making authority on road name changes; preliminary subdivision plats; public project review; and appeals of subdivision-related administrative decisions.
The primary objective of the Committee is to create a Resilience Element for incorporation into the Charleston County Comprehensive Plan that explains high water impacts and other resilience related issues, is coordinated with the efforts of other jurisdictions, and identifies a goal, needs, and strategies to ensure Charleston County is resilient in the future. This Committee shall serve to research, build and create the Resilience Element and follow its incorporation into the Charleston County Comprehensive Plan. Upon adoption of the Resilience Element by County Council, the Committee will cease to exist.
Charleston County Planning Commission’s regularly scheduled meetings are on the second Monday of each month.
