The Community Development and Revitalization Department provides administrative and financial oversight for U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) programs, American Rescue Plan Act programs, MacArthur Foundation programs, and other grant programs. The department's programs enhance citizens' quality of life while promoting economic growth through the development and revitalization of housing and communities.
Charleston County receives grant funding annually from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to facilitate resources that develop viable communities. Eligible applications must fall within priority goals that can be found in the Five-Year Consolidated Plan. A pre-application workshop and Request for Applications (RFA) are generally released annually. Opportunities are available in the following funding streams for organizations that provide services to Charleston County low-to-moderate income residents.

Charleston County's Community Development and Revitalization Department administers the County of Charleston's Urban Entitlement Grants for the:
CDBG provides opportunities for towns, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations to carry out a wide range of community development activities directed toward neighborhood revitalization, economic development, and improved community facilities, infrastructure, and public services.
This program funds agencies that respond to the immediate housing needs of at-risk and homeless populations through street outreach, emergency shelter, homelessness prevention, and rapid re-housing.
HOME provides grants in partnership with organizations to fund a wide range of activities that build, buy, and/or rehabilitate affordable housing for rent or homeownership for low-to-moderate income residents.
This is to give notice that Charleston County under Part 58 has determined that the following proposed action under the HOME program is located in a floodplain for the below project(s).
